BLM Headquarters
Today, I had the honor of attending my very first African American Advisory Committee (AAAC) meeting, hosted by the Flint & Genesee Chamber at the BLM Headquarters, located in the Oak Business Center on North Saginaw Street in Flint. I’m excited to share that I officially became a member of the AAAC today!
The meeting was both informative and inspiring—a powerful space filled with passionate business professionals from across our city, all committed to empowering and uplifting Black-owned businesses in Genesee County. The energy in the room was electric, and it was incredible to connect with fellow entrepreneurs and community leaders.
The AAAC creates real opportunities to network, share ideas, and access vital resources. I’m looking forward to collaborating with other members and supporting the committee’s mission to foster the growth and success of Black-owned businesses in our region—not only as a small business owner but also as a committed member of our community.
If you're a business owner, professional, or community partner interested in advancing African American entrepreneurship in Flint and Genesee County, I encourage you to attend an upcoming meeting. The AAAC meets on the Fourth Friday of each month, at rotating locations across the region, with virtual options available when possible.
Let’s keep building together.

Durant-Dort Factory One
On June 26, 2025, small business owners, entrepreneurs, and local leaders gathered for Grow on the Bridge: An Evening of Connection — and what a night it was! The event brought together passionate individuals dedicated to building and supporting small businesses throughout our region.
From the start, the energy was high and the conversations were powerful. Guests enjoyed a warm and welcoming atmosphere with dinner catered by a talented local chef and delicious desserts provided by a nearby bakery — a true celebration of community flavors and entrepreneurship in action.
The highlight of the evening was a dynamic panel featuring experts from:
Each panelist shared actionable insights, stories of impact, and real-world strategies to help entrepreneurs start, grow, and sustain their businesses. From access to capital and government contracting opportunities to community-driven support services, the evening was filled with resources that inspired and empowered.
“I learned so much about the plethora of resources available to small business owners. Whether
you're just thinking about starting a business, are new to entrepreneurship, or already established — there is help available. Look up your local city, county, and state nonprofit business support entities and tell them what you need. I met some truly dedicated people working hard to support our business community. Bravo to each and every one of them!”
Events like Grow on the Bridge remind us of the power of community. If you're a small business owner looking to grow, you don’t have to do it alone. Get in touch with your local support organizations — you may be surprised at what’s available to help you move forward.

Genesys Banquet & Conference Center.
I had the honor of serving as a judge for the People’s Choice Award at this year’s Pitch For $K event, hosted by the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce—and what an incredible experience it was!
Seeing local entrepreneurs courageously pitch their ideas reminded me why I do what I do. These were not just business ideas; they were dreams in motion—innovative, bold, and full of heart.
Pitch For $K is a phenomenal initiative aimed at fostering the entrepreneurial mindset in Flint & Genesee County. It’s more than a competition—it’s a launchpad. With up to $5,000 in funding and mentoring from experienced business leaders, this program is helping turn ideas into impact.
Let’s continue to support and celebrate the visionaries in our community.
UCCS at the Chamber of Commerce Event
At Unique Career Coaching Services (UCCS), we believe meaningful change happens through connection—and the recent Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce event was a shining example of that.
Representing UCCS wasn’t just about building business relationships; it was about aligning with leaders who are actively shaping the future of Flint through innovation, entrepreneurship, and education.
We were especially inspired by conversations with Rachel Reeves Thelemaque, Director of Flint Operations at Ferris State University, and leaders from Mott Community College—both dedicated to empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs right here in our city.
The Service Alchemy Panel was a true highlight, featuring powerhouse entrepreneurs from Eight Ten Nail Bar, Elements Modern Kitchen & Cocktails, and Rellies Hospitality. Their journeys reminded us that service isn’t just what you do—it’s who you are, and what you leave behind.
At UCCS, we’re proud to be part of this ecosystem—helping individuals uncover their professional path and turn potential into purpose. If you’re an aspiring entrepreneur or career changer looking for clarity, confidence, and direction, we’re here to support you.
At Unique Career Coaching Services, community is at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we’re proud to support the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint on Averill Avenue—a place that doesn’t just serve youth, it empowers them.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege to engage with this incredible organization as a corporate sponsor, volunteer, and now as a Chamber of Commerce supporter. From summer camp kickoffs to student showcases, every experience has been a reminder of what’s possible when we pour into young lives.
As a career coach, I believe true career development starts with purpose—and purpose begins in community. The Boys & Girls Club gives kids a space to grow, lead, and thrive. Their confidence, creativity, and joy inspire us to do more and give more.
We encourage you to join us in supporting this vital mission. Volunteer, sponsor, or simply show up. Together, we can help build not just brighter futures—but lasting impact.
Because when we invest in youth, we’re not just changing lives—we’re shaping legacies.
